Marta Margnetti (1989), born in Mendrisio, lives and works in Lugano. She graduated in Visual Arts at the Haute école d’art et de design (HEAD) in Geneva and later in Contemporary Arts Practice at the Hochschule der Künste (HKB) in Bern. From 2013 to 2018 she was co-founder and co-director of the Sonnenstube gallery in Lugano. From 2018 she is active member of the collective Morel Lugano. In 2017 Marta Margnetti was awarded with the Kiefer Hablitzel Award at the Swiss Art Awards. Her works have been shown in various solo exhibitions. She has participated in important group exhibitions, including Beehave, Kunsthaus Baselland, Basel, 2018; CARAVAN, Aargauer Kunthaus, Aarau, 2018; New Swiss Performance Now, Kunsthalle, Basel, 2018; Unter 30: Junge Schweizer Kunst XIII, Museo d’arte della Svizzera italiana, Lugano, 2017; Prize Kiefer Hablitzel, Swiss Art Awards, Basel, 2017; Affaire, Centre Pasquart, Biel, 2016; Che c‘è di nuovo, Museo Cantonale d‘Arte, Lugano, 2016. She is represented in public collections such as the Collezione del Canton Ticino, the Julius Bär Art Collection, the Museo di Mendisio Collection and the Aargauer Kunsthaus.
