Marta Margnetti was born in Mendrisio in 1989, and lives and works in Lugano. She graduated in Visual Arts at the Haute école d’art et de design (HEAD) in Geneva and later in Contemporary Arts Practice at the Hochschule der Künste (HKB) in Bern. She co-founded and co-directed the Sonnenstube Gallery in Lugano from 2013 to 2018 and became a member of the Morel Lugano collective in 2018. She received the Kiefer Hablitzel Award In 2017 at the Swiss Art Awards. Her work has been shown in various solo exhibitions. She has participated in group exhibitions, including Beehave, Kunsthaus Baselland, Basel, 2018; CARAVAN, Aargauer Kunthaus, Aarau, 2018; New Swiss Performance Now, Kunsthalle, Basel, 2018; Unter 30: Junge Schweizer Kunst XIII, Museo d’arte della Svizzera italiana, Lugano, 2017; Prize Kiefer Hablitzel, Swiss Art Awards, Basel, 2017; Affaire, Centre Pasquart, Biel, 2016; Che c‘è di nuovo, Museo Cantonale d‘Arte, Lugano, 2016. Marta Margnetti’ work is included in public collections such as the Collezione del Canton Ticino, the Julius Bär Art Collection, the Museo di Mendisio Collection and the Aargauer Kunsthaus.
