Che c’è di nuovo?

A Look at the Emerging Art Scene in Ticino

19.03–19.06.2016

For more than 10 years, Che c’è di nuovo? has been an unmissable event for those who want to discover the latest trends and the key players of the Ticinese art scene. In its fourth edition, the show presents works by more than 10 artists under 40 selected by a commission.

The first edition of Che c’è di nuovo? was presented in 2003 with the aim of offering young and unknown artists the possibility to present their work in a museum, and allowing the public to discover the creative ferment of new generations of artists. In this perspective, the show documents the production of emerging artists working in different media, from painting, sculpture and drawing to photography, video and performance. The exhibition also supports the integration of the local artistic reality within the national context, a commitment that has always characterized the work of the Museo Cantonale d’Arte and the Museo d’Arte di Lugano. To further promote the Ticino artistic scene outside the cantonal borders, Che c’è di nuovo? will have a showcase in Zurich, thanks to the collaboration with the DIENSTGEBÄUDE Art Space Zürich, an independent space where the artists selected for the exhibition will be able to present their work from April 2 to April 30, 2016. The exhibition is supported by the Percento culturale Migros Ticino and one of the artists will be honoured with the Premio Migros Ticino di incoraggiamento alla creazione artistica, a 10.000 Swiss francs award.
