PAM Paolo Mazzuchelli was born in Lugano on 27 January 1954. He received his training at the CSIA (Centro Scolastico Industrie Artistiche) art school in Lugano, followed by the Brera Academy in Milan. In 1982 he won the drawing competition held by the Municipality of Chiasso and had his first important solo show at the Galleria Mosaico, also in Chiasso. He was awarded the prestigious Federal Grant for Fine Arts in both 1992 and 1993. During the 1990s, Mazzuchelli embarked upon a fruitful collaborative relationship with artists and writers who gravitated around the visual poet Franco Beltrametti, giving rise to crossover experiences between image, music and poetry. Since 2000, various exhibitions of his work have been staged at the Museo Villa dei Cedri in Bellinzona, the Centro Culturale Elisarion in Minusio, the Galerie Carzaniga in Basel, and the Galleria Carlo Mazzi in Tegna, the village where the artist currently lives and works.
