PAM Paolo Mazzuchelli (PAM) is one of Ticino’s most representative artists of the 1950s. He lives and works in Ticino, though he exchanges regularly with other regions, in Switzerland and Italy in particular. Initially a calligraphic painter working in impasto, he was influenced by Surrealism, Expressionism and Art Informel. The Beat Generation, psychedelic art and underground literature are also inspirational influences. The phases of the artist’s evolution are explored in Tra le ciglia (Between the Eyelashes), which brings together approximately 100 mainly large-format paintings from his 1970s debut up to the present day. The works are presented by recurrent themes and subjects, which include dreamlike and apocalyptic landscapes, vegetal motifs and the human figure. The exhibition focuses on the variety of techniques and media used by the artist, including charcoal, Indian ink and mixed media on canvas and paper, together with various techniques of engraving.
