Get ready for an entire day of art and enjoyment on Sunday, September 14th! The Open Day event returns with a vibrant program designed to entertain and inspire audiences of all ages.
Thanks to the support of UBS, our main partner and longstanding promoter of culture in Switzerland, MASI will open its doors free of charge from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at both the LAC and Palazzo Reali locations. This is a fantastic opportunity to dive into a day of cultural enrichment and fun activities.  We look forward to welcoming you!

On this special Sunday, visitors can discover the exhibitions currently on view at MASI: Sentimento e osservazione, Eugenio Schmidhauser, La Collezione and the new solo exhibition dedicated to Richard Paul Lohse, featuring throughout the day an evocative electronic sound installation enriched by live performances by two cellists.

At regular intervals, Flash Tours offer short guided visits that engagingly reveal the connections, stories, and ideas behind the works on display (from 10:30 to 17:00).

Art also becomes a moment of sharing and fun for the whole family in the Open LAB for families, held in the foyer on the museum’s second floor (10:30–12:30 and 14:00–18:00).

Those who enjoy challenges can also take part in the online contest dedicated to the Richard Paul Lohse exhibition, with exciting prizes to be won, including a Rubik’s Cube, a Duo Membership for the museum, and a catalogue of the exhibition.

Listening to sounds that seem to “float” in the air, accompanying Richard Paul Lohse’s paintings in an imaginary dance: this is the evocative experience awaiting the public during the UBS Open Day.

For the occasion, Lohse’s works, with their geometric structures and modulated colours, are translated into music in an installation that transforms images into sound. Through the sonification created by composer Nadir Vassena, Lohse’s paintings become synthetic sound sequences that generate a continuous acoustic landscape.

At regular intervals, two cellists enrich this sonic dimension with brief live performances, creating an experience of unexpected and profound nuances.

Designed for those with little time but great curiosity, Flash Tours are short 15-minute guided visits that present MASI’s exhibitions in a direct and engaging way. A simple and immediate way to discover the connections, stories, and ideas behind the artworks.

On the UBS Open Day, Flash Tours will guide visitors through the exhibitions Richard Paul Lohse and Sentimento e osservazione.

The Open LAB invites families and different generations to share a creative moment together. On the UBS Open Day, the entire foyer on the second floor of the museum will be transformed into a special space for children, parents, and curious visitors of all ages.

With the support of the LAC edu team, younger visitors (and not only!) can explore the world of art through creative activities and games inspired by the exhibitions. A unique opportunity to experience art in an active, free, and playful way, guided by experienced educators.

The day is part of the celebration programme for the LAC’s 10th anniversary.
